Chicago-based Christian hip-hop artist Aasha Marie releases her newest single “Nobody Greater,” a genre-blending, inspirational track that celebrates the saving power of Jesus Christ. The song was written, vocally arranged, and executive produced by Aasha Marie, with musical arrangements and production by Runtrell Skinner and Terrance Holmes. The track features Grammy-nominated artist and former NBC The Voice Season 18 contestant D. Lylez, as well as background artists Grandy Wilson, Kristen Lowe, and Ashley Washington, from the highly popular Sunday Service Choir group.
The accompanying music video for “Nobody Greater” was shot and edited by Lakeshorehy, a film company based in Chicago. The video was filmed in a church on the west side of the city. It is inspired by Colossians 1:15, a verse that speaks of Christ as being pre-existent and preeminent.
Aasha Marie, a recipient of a 2020 Individual Artists Program grant from the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCase) and a 2021 National Black Arts Forward Artist Project Fund, is known for her “restorative” music that blends gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and jazz to deliver a message of hope and healing through her faith, love for her community, and cultural influences.
In 2020, Aasha Marie Burst into the spotlight with her highly successful album While You Were Sleeping (WYWS), which was later nominated for the 2020 Rapzilla Award for Album of the Year and Women’s Spotlight Artist of the Year. Since then, her songs have gained nearly 100k streams on Spotify and have enjoyed airplay on Chicago’s Vocalo 91.1FM. Aasha Marie has built a strong following as a music educator and performer, with appearances at Sofar Sounds Chicago and Woodlawn 5k Dash & Food Truck Festival.
To date, she has also opened for international recording artists such as Wale, Da’T.R.U.T.H., and Thi’sl. Recently, in 2022, her original song “Dapper” was featured on the Apple TV+ docuseries Gutsy executive produced by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton.
