The Milwaukee Bucks have kept their homegrown wing shooter in Khris Middleton, and will now reportedly add another.

According to ESPN’s Wojnarowski, former Marquette star Wesley Matthews has agreed to a deal with the Bucks on the league minimum.

Matthews was dealt to the New York Knicks last season as part of the Kristaps Porzingis trade to Dallas. The stay was short lived, as New York swiftly bought out Matthews and allowed him to sign with the Indiana Pacers. Now, he will head back to some familiar territory in Wisconsin.

Wesley Matthews spent four seasons at Marquette before going un-drafted in the 2009 NBA Draft and eventually signing with the Utah Jazz. So, consider it a homecoming for the ten-year veteran. Matthews brings in a career 3-point shooting percentage of 38.2% and will instantly provide valuable shooting to Coach of the Year Mike Budenholzer’s lineup.

Several contender teams were going after Matthews according to Wojnarowski. To see the Bucks beat them out is certainly encouraging as they look to appease MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The signing has some added importance too, given that the Bucks lost key contributor and shooter Malcolm Brogdon to the inter-division Indiana Pacers. Despite the loss, Executive of the Year Jon Horst may have made another key-signing in Wesley Matthews that will pay dividends during the next playoff run for Milwaukee.
