The rapper’s new label partnership reconnects him with a longtime collaborator while putting another album on the calendar.
Wiz Khalifa has signed with 10K Projects, returning to the Warner Music Group family as a new release cycle gets underway. The agreement reunites him with Marsha St. Hubert, his former project manager and now a leader of the label, creating a new business chapter with a familiar executive relationship at its center.
“It’s good to be home!” Khalifa said in the announcement. His Warner connection began with a brief Warner Records deal when he was 18, followed by an Atlantic signing at 22. The latest move comes years after that first major-label introduction, with his management team describing the reunion around the continuity of those working relationships rather than announcing a completely unfamiliar team.
The new music is already arriving. “The Calm” is out now, with Taylor Gang featuring the single on its official site and Khalifa’s Audiomack account dating the release October 23. It follows September’s “Yiccen”, keeping the latest label news tied to records listeners can hear rather than an announcement without an accompanying release.
According to The Music Universe, Khalifa has also set November 13 for the album Cool through the new partnership. The project was made with hometown collaborators including E. Dan, I.D. Labs, Sledgren, Ricky P, Big Jerm and Kenny Wright. The album date gives the signing a defined next step.
The business update coincides with a new round of catalog milestones. AllHipHop reported that Khalifa’s team announced 12 RIAA certifications, including Diamond honors for “Black and Yellow” and “Young, Wild, & Free” with Snoop Dogg, while “See You Again,” featuring Charlie Puth, reached 16-times Platinum. The update also included multiple-Platinum upgrades for “Roll Up,” “Work Hard, Play Hard” and “No Sleep.”
Cool follows a busy run that includes Khaotic, Girls Love Horses, the Roofless Records for Drop Tops releases with Curren$y and Blog Era Boyz with mgk. Those projects provide the immediate musical backdrop to the new agreement. Its financial value, duration and ownership provisions were not disclosed in the announcement, leaving the confirmed story focused on the label reunion, the current single and the November album.
