Kid Cudi is moving deeper into filmmaking with ‘Wrong Number,’ a new horror thriller he is writing, directing, scoring and starring in alongside Barbie Ferreira.
Kid Cudi is taking on multiple creative roles in his upcoming horror thriller Wrong Number, with the rapper and actor set to write, direct, score and star in the project. According to Complex, the film is currently in production in Los Angeles and will pair Cudi with Euphoria alum Barbie Ferreira.
Cudi, whose legal name is Scott Mescudi, will play Ibn, a lonely self-help author whose unexpected relationship with Ferreira’s character Eliza begins to unravel his life. The story develops into a darker mystery when Ibn becomes the target of an unseen stalker and the prime suspect in a string of murders.
The supporting cast includes Laura Harrier, Clifton Powell, Lucy Barrett and Dewayne Perkins. Film Music Reporter also confirms that Cudi wrote the screenplay and is serving as an executive producer, while Mark Webber, Anthony Baldino and Ryan Lacen are among the producers attached to the project.
Cudi announced the film through social media, describing it as his second feature and emphasizing how closely the project connects to his long-running interest in horror. The move expands on a screen career that has included acting roles across film and television while he continues developing projects behind the camera.
Wrong Number will mark Cudi’s second feature as a director, following the upcoming drama Doe. He has also appeared in projects including Trap, Silent Night and Happy Gilmore 2, giving him an increasingly broad résumé outside of music.
Both Wrong Number and Doe are expected to arrive in 2027, though a specific theatrical release date for Wrong Number has not yet been announced. With production underway, the film places Cudi in one of his most hands-on creative roles yet, combining writing, directing, acting and original music in the same project.
