Lil Yachty is officially headed for his first WWE match after months of serious training, with the Atlanta rapper set to face United States Champion Baron Corbin in his hometown.
Lil Yachty’s first WWE match is now set for Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6 in Atlanta, where he will step into the ring against Baron Corbin in a five-minute challenge. If Yachty lasts the full five minutes, Trick Williams will earn another United States Championship opportunity against Corbin later that night.
The match was established on the August 21 episode of SmackDown after Williams demanded another shot at the title he lost to Corbin at SummerSlam. Corbin initially rejected the request before turning his attention to Yachty and offering the unusual condition, which the rapper accepted.
Yachty’s move from ringside personality to in-ring competitor has been building for months. He aligned with Williams on WWE television ahead of WrestleMania 42 and has remained part of the storyline through Williams’ United States Championship run and his continuing rivalry with Corbin.
According to reporting cited by wrestling outlets, Yachty has spent recent months training at WWE’s Performance Center in Florida as he prepared for an eventual debut. Earlier WWE footage showed him working through drills and learning to take bumps alongside Williams and veteran Performance Center coach Norman Smiley.

Yachty made his intentions clear during those early sessions, explaining that wrestling presented a new physical challenge after years focused on music. He said his next goal was to transform his body and eventually compete in the ring, making the newly announced Corbin match the payoff to a direction WWE has been developing on television.
The rapper’s involvement has also become increasingly physical. WWE’s official SummerSlam results noted that Yachty struck Corbin with the Trick Stick during the August 2 title match and was later sent crashing through a ringside table as Williams and Corbin fought over the championship.
The September 6 appearance will mark Yachty’s official WWE in-ring debut and gives the Atlanta native a hometown setting for his first match. The five-minute stipulation also keeps his debut directly connected to Williams’ pursuit of the United States Championship, with Yachty’s performance determining whether his ally gets another shot at Corbin.
