BigXthaPlug is heading to East Tennessee State University this fall, with the Dallas rapper selected to headline the school’s annual student concert in October.

BigXthaPlug has been announced as the headliner for ETSU’s 2026 Fall Concert, bringing one of rap’s biggest recent breakout acts to East Tennessee State University. The Student Government Association had previously set the concert for October 7 and said the winning artist would be revealed during Welcome Week.

ETSU’s official Student Government Association events page lists October 7, 2026 as the date for this year’s fall concert. The university had invited students to vote from a group of potential performers before the headliner announcement, continuing the student-driven process behind one of the school’s major annual entertainment events.

BigXthaPlug arrives at ETSU after a rapid rise that has pushed the Dallas native well beyond his regional beginnings. Songs including “Texas,” “Mmhmm,” “Levels” and “The Largest” helped establish his booming delivery, while his album Take Care expanded his national profile and reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200.

His reach has also grown beyond traditional hip-hop audiences. “All The Way” featuring Bailey Zimmerman became a major crossover record, giving BigX another lane as he blended his Texas rap identity with country influences and introduced his music to listeners outside his core fan base.

The ETSU date lands in the middle of a busy live schedule for the rapper. BigXthaPlug is playing major fairs and venues throughout late summer and fall 2026, including appearances at the Iowa State Fair, Alaska State Fair, Oregon State Fair and Kansas State Fair before additional dates later in the season.

ETSU’s Student Government Association has regularly used its major-events program to bring nationally known performers to the Johnson City campus community. Earlier in 2026, the organization presented Flatland Cavalry and Gretchen Wilson at Freedom Hall Civic Center as part of its spring concert programming.

With BigXthaPlug now set for the October 7 fall concert, ETSU students will get a live set from an artist whose profile has expanded quickly across rap and crossover music. Additional event and ticketing details are expected through the university’s official channels as the concert approaches.
