Teen Fan Revisits Disturbing D4vd Remark as Murder Case Heads to Trial

A teenage fan has come forward with new claims about her past online friendship with D4vd, recalling a disturbing joke the singer allegedly made years before he was charged in the killing of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The fan, identified only by the pseudonym Jane, said the comment felt harmless at the time but has taken on a deeply unsettling meaning in light of the criminal case.

Jane said she was 16 while D4vd was 18 when they began communicating through messages and phone calls during the summer of 2022, shortly after “Romantic Homicide” gained widespread attention. According to Complex, she remembered joking that she could defeat D4vd’s fictional alter ego, Itami, in a karate fight before he allegedly responded by describing himself and the character cutting off her arms.

Although Jane initially understood the exchange as dark humor, she said the memory became difficult to dismiss after learning more about Rivas Hernandez’s death. She described feeling shocked when authorities revealed that the teenager’s remains had been dismembered, while stopping short of claiming that the old conversation proved anything about the case.

Jane also remembered D4vd as a supportive friend who held strong religious beliefs and discouraged smoking and drinking. She said their friendship ended around the middle of 2023 after he told her they were at different levels of maturity and suggested that they could possibly reconnect once she had finished high school.

Her account emerged as additional people began discussing their past interactions with the singer. D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, has pleaded not guilty to charges including murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. His attorneys have maintained that the evidence will show he did not kill Rivas Hernandez.

A judge has ruled that prosecutors presented sufficient evidence for D4vd to stand trial. Jane said she was initially hesitant to speak publicly because she feared her experience would be misunderstood, but she ultimately hoped that sharing her account might encourage others with relevant information to come forward.
