Transonic Redefines Hip-Hop and Soul With a Debut Album Rooted in Liberation, Community, and Transformation

Music has always been a place where artists can document who they are, but few projects feel as intentional and immersive as Transonic. Created by Black trans hip-hop soul duo Transonic, the self-titled album is more than a collection of songs. It is a living reflection of transformation, community, and artistic freedom told through a sound that refuses to follow anyone else’s blueprint.

Released on June 26, 2026, the nine-track project offers listeners an experience that is equally intimate and expansive. Blending hip-hop, alternative soul, soulful melodies, experimental production, and sharp lyricism, Transonic embraces every contradiction that makes growth possible. It is vulnerable without losing its confidence, politically aware without becoming heavy-handed, and deeply personal while remaining universally relatable.

What immediately sets Transonic apart is their ability to create music that feels honest in every sense of the word. There is no attempt to fit neatly into a single genre or artistic lane. Instead, the duo invites listeners into their world, one built on authenticity, emotional transparency, and creative liberation.

Throughout the album, themes of gender identity, Blackness, love, anxiety, pleasure, mental health, ambition, survival, and self-discovery are explored with remarkable care and fearless honesty. The result is a project that celebrates both the beauty and complexity of becoming who you are.

The album moves effortlessly between moods and emotions. Tracks such as “HookJab” and “I Need Dat” showcase confidence and unapologetic energy, while “Metadicinal” and “Heatwave” lean into soulful intimacy and atmospheric warmth. On songs like “Fly Away With Me” and “Transitions_voicememo,” Transonic pull listeners even closer, offering honest reflections on visibility, mental health, and navigating life as trans individuals in America.

Rather than presenting transition as a single destination, the duo explores it as an ongoing process. Change is not treated as something to overcome but something to embrace. Every song feels like another chapter in that journey.

Entirely Black trans-made, Transonic represents an intentional commitment to uplifting Black trans artistry at every stage of its creation. From production and songwriting to visual direction, mixing, mastering, and artwork, the project was crafted with community at its core. That level of intentionality gives the album an authenticity that resonates far beyond its music.

The duo describes the sonic experience of the album as feeling like “shared intimacy like smoking together,” a description that perfectly captures the project’s unique balance of comfort and confidence. Smooth and soulful one moment, direct and unapologetic the next, Transonic creates a listening experience that feels deeply human.

Production from Korbin Hawkins provides the ideal foundation for the duo’s vision. Rich textures and genre-blending arrangements allow every lyrical moment to breathe while maintaining a cohesive sonic identity. The album’s production effortlessly blends smoky atmospheres with polished hip-hop influences and soulful undertones, creating a soundscape unlike anything currently occupying the mainstream conversation.

For Transonic, however, this project is about far more than music.

“Have you ever heard yourself change? Listened to every audible detail of the shedding of your last self? Yeah. This album for us is just that. And some joy mixed in too.”

That joy is impossible to miss. Despite tackling deeply personal and sometimes difficult subject matter, Transonic remains uplifting throughout. There is freedom in its storytelling and celebration in its existence. The project creates space for healing, reflection, laughter, pleasure, and self-expression without compromise.

Adding to the excitement surrounding the release, TIDAL recently selected Transonic as the featured emerging artist on its Melodies and Bars playlist, marking the duo’s first official playlist placement. The recognition arrives as an important milestone for artists whose originality continues to resonate with listeners and industry tastemakers alike.

Their growing momentum feels well deserved. In a musical landscape often driven by trends and comparisons, Transonic offers something increasingly rare: a sound and perspective that belong entirely to them.

Korbin and Meysha explain it best:

“There’s quite literally no one like us. We don’t sound like anything you’ve heard before and we invite the world to vibe with us. No need to compare us to any others. Listen to us anew.”

That invitation lies at the heart of Transonic. The album isn’t interested in asking for acceptance or permission. Instead, it confidently occupies its own space, celebrating the limitless worlds Black trans people create for themselves and others.

With fearless songwriting, genre-defying production, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity, Transonic has delivered a debut that feels fresh, necessary, and impossible to ignore. It is music that speaks honestly about transformation while reminding listeners that joy can be found in every stage of becoming.
