24Hip-Hop Exclusive: Rex2slick Returns With Powerful New Single “128” and Upcoming EP “Against All Odds”

South Baltimore’s own Rex2slick is stepping back into the spotlight with a renewed focus, a sharper mindset, and a message that cuts through the noise of today’s music industry. His latest single, “128”, is set to drop September 2nd, with the official music video following later in the month. More than just another release, “128” carries a deeper purpose—shedding light on the truth that money and fame don’t always equal happiness. For Rex, the real win is finding peace, sometimes in a more private and grounded life.

“I take my real-life situations and turn them into art,” he explains. “I love turning pain into passion, and music is what I fell in love with.” That honesty runs deep through his catalog, shaped by influences ranging from Drake, Lil Wayne, and Young Scooter to the soulful touch of Sade and Adele. Music is in his blood—his father was a member of the legendary Baltimore rap group Numarx, and growing up around those stories left an undeniable mark on his own creative path.

But it hasn’t been a straight road. Life in Baltimore’s streets brought distractions and challenges that led Rex to take a mental break from music. That time away became a turning point. “I got my mind back in a good place,” he says. “Now I’m back, and I’m better.” Since early 2024, he’s been locked in—focused on his craft, his growth, and his vision for what’s next.

Looking back, Rex still treasures milestones like shooting his first music video in 2016 or his first interview in 2017 with the late DJ Bunk, moments that fueled his drive to keep going. Today, that motivation comes from his family and loved ones. Every bar, every verse, every release is another step toward building the future he wants for them.

The message behind his music is simple but powerful: keep going, be yourself, and don’t let anyone’s opinion steer you off your path. With his team behind him, Rex is ready to show why his comeback matters.

Fans won’t have to wait long for more. Along with “128” and its visual, Rex is dropping a special 7-song EP, “Against All Odds,” on September 10th—a statement piece that reflects both his journey and his hunger to break through.

At just 24, Rex2slick is proving that setbacks can become setups for a bigger return. The Southside of Baltimore has a new sound, and Rex is making sure it’s heard far beyond the city limits.
