Following on from the success of his debut album ‘Rockett 88’, New York’s own YOUNG JIMMY is back with his brand of rock-enthused-rap for 2024 with the release of his charged new single ‘Heavy. (feat. Kam Franklin)’.
A fierce drum fill kicks the track into action before the whirling organ and strong grooves take charge of the airwaves. Transforming the building blocks of The Beatles’ ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’, YOUNG JIMMY rips up the rulebook as he places his very own ‘hood-rock’ at the forefront once again. The track is a fiery response to Jimmy’s closest critics as he delivers his cutthroat verses filled with devouring lyrics. The track is a genre defying rock-anthem as he bursts into the soundwaves with his trademark cathartic approach to music making. Blending together dynamic drums, riotous guitars and a high-octane vocal delivery, ‘HEAVY.’ is a track that steals your attention and never lets you slip. The single also features the astounding vocals from Kam Franklin, bringing her ethereal style to the tracks deep grooves.
The digital release of the track clocks in at a touch over three minutes, yet the explicit full, seven-minute version will be available on a limited edition vinyl pressing later on this year, with a clean version being aired on the radio.
“The record is a diss track against my enemies, haters and music industry professionals who I have personal beef with. Inspired by classic rock music, I’ve been working on the song since 2020 making this the last song of the ‘Rockett 88’ recordings.
I met Kam Franklin in the summer of 2023 and recorded her vocals soon after in Maine before finishing the track at The Cutting Room in NYC. The song is a brutal evil track directed at my opps. With twirling organs, roaring guitars, disrespectful war-like lyrics, and haunting vocals soaring over everything.”
YOUNG JIMMY is a genre defying artist from New York, spearheading his way through the music industry with his unique brand of ‘hood rock’. Growing up in The Bronx, Jimmy first picked up a guitar at six years old and has been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of raw rock and hip hop ever since.
