Chicago, IL – Up and coming Chicago rapper, Pronto Valid, has released an alternative hip-hop single titled, ‘08 CIVIC. The song gives a deeper introspective look into the artist – building off of his ‘MIDNITE FLOWERS’ EP – and is a story of his growth from childhood to early adulthood.
‘08 CIVIC could be described as “chill” or “relaxing” as the smooth choral background of the beat lays in beautifully with Pronto’s heavy lyricism. Despite the title – the song is about everything but a car. Pronto takes you on a journey through his current world perspective while dropping subtle hints about his background and upbringing.
The lyrics of the song are both deeply personal yet extremely relatable to many. Stating lines like; “Grandmama died a month before I was born, Sometimes I feel like she’s part of me or, She watches over me just to be sure one day I’ll make history plotting the course” The hook is catchy with a chill-vibe and realness to it, stating; “I took a break now I’m back, Thought it was making me stronger, Now I’m just breaking my back, Got me asking how much longer, Dealing with this and with that, Now I understand my father, can’t take a victory lap, gotta go back to the lab…”
The lyrics paired with the beat and pronto’s delivery stick in the listeners mind – painting various hues of the emotional spectrum in vastly different ways throughout the entire song. He intends to follow up this release with the release of a music video for the track as well as more new summer-time music!
