Tee Grizzley, Skilla Baby and Ashanti have connected on “Rain,” a new collaboration released Friday, September 11.
The track brings Tee Grizzley and fellow Detroit rapper Skilla Baby together with Ashanti credited on the record, giving the release a crossover lineup that stretches beyond the city’s current rap scene. “Rain” arrives during Tee Grizzley’s rollout for his next album, They Forgot.
Tee announced They Forgot earlier in the rollout alongside “Back Ina Yams,” setting up a September 25 release. “Rain” now adds another piece to that campaign while bringing a different combination of voices into the project.
An official video for “Rain” also arrived with the song on September 11. The visual was released through Tee Grizzley’s official YouTube presence and was shot by JerryPHD, giving the collaboration a full visual rollout on release day.
For Tee and Skilla Baby, the song continues a working relationship between two prominent Detroit rappers who have collaborated before. Ashanti’s credit broadens the record’s reach while keeping the focus on the upcoming album campaign.
