What is your name and what city do you rep?
I’m shelovezxo! and I’m from Elizabeth City, NC.
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
My newest single “CRAZY BOUT U” just came out on Oct 28th. Inspiration from that song just came from how crazy love can truly make you. I’ve seen people really go through hell and back for someone they love.
What is unique about you and your music?
Everything is authentic, nothing I put out is something that didn’t happen to me or those around me. Love has many layers and with that love comes a lot of pain.
What shaped your music?
Just life experiences, I’ve been in a lot of situations that have changed how I view people.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I’ve been doing this since I was 11, learned how to write and read music prior to that. Music always has and always will be a part of my life so I’d have to say since the beginning.
What type of music do you listen to?
Mostly older R&B, ranging from Anthony Hamilton to Sunshine Anderson. You just can’t replicate that raw feeling anymore.
What inspires you to write music?
I always have a lot on my mind so there’s always something for me to talk about. A lot of the songs I write are things that I don’t talk to people about. I view it as a form of therapy honestly.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
I’d have to say gaming. I grew up on Halo, Gears of War, Assassin’s Creed, etc. When I’m not busy with work or school I’m usually gaming with my friends.
Happiness to you is…
Spending time with those I love. Been trying to spend more time with my family. Life comes at you fast and I know everyone won’t be here forever. So I try to make the most of every moment I can with my family.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
How expensive all of this is. Studio time, mixing/mastering, PR. It all adds up so you definitely have to be financially stable if this is something that you want to do professionally.
Tell us about your upcoming projects…
I have a few EPs coming out next year as well as my album. I’ve been working on it since Fall 2022, and I’m excited for everyone to hear it.
