REAL1ONE Is a Musical Storyteller in His New Album ‘Hollow Hearts & Ammo’

Growing up in a low-income neighbourhood, REAL1ONE learnt that you have to make your own luck. His music details his personal experiences of facing and overcoming adversity. “That uphill battle against all the odds made me the fighter I am today” REAL1ONE muses, “I’m just trying to enjoy what I have, and music is an avenue that allows me to release some of the frustrations I deal with in everyday life.”

The album came together very organically, with individual tracks acting like jigsaw pieces, coming together to create REAL1ONE’s bigger picture. Far from simple, REAL1ONE’s album ‘Hollow Hearts & Ammo‘ defies the niche and all-too-familiar path of reductive genre-focussed mundanity. A fusion of Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B and much more, REAL1ONE has worked to carve his own lane in an overcrowded industry. “I enjoy the range of emotions that come with different genres… My album definitely has a lot of emotion and feelings. I didn’t think too much about it. The whole process was very natural – I just went to the studio when I had the time!”

Only a few times in a generation does the world stumble across artists whose work defies all time and space. REAL1ONE is one of those artists, as his latest project, “.Hollow Hearts & Ammo,” serves as a time capsule for his journey in life. The 16-track album is beautifully constructed and well thought out, delivering in thirty-eight well spent minutes a message that would take a lesser talented emcee 2 hours to convey.

Much of REAL1ONE’s writing inspiration comes from his own personal life stories, but he also draws from artists he’s inspired by, including Lil Wayne, Young Thug, and Meek Mill.  A passionate lyricist making music about things that matter, REAL1ONE stays true to his artist name – a real artist, with an authentic voice.
