Everyone has heard the smash hit, “Teach Me How to Dougie”, from the hip hop group, Cali Swag District. However, a new chapter has opened for OFB YUNG, a founding member of the group that helped pioneer a new wave of hip hop in the early 2010s.
“To get where I am today, I kept pushing through all my trials and tribulations. From battle rapping at school, on street corners, to spending many sleepless nights in the studio vibing with my bros to losing two of my bros.”
Every artist knows a degree of struggle as it is part of any dream worth pursuing. While OFB Yung had to grind from the very beginning to get his name out there, he cites the loss of his two brothers as his greatest challenge.
“The most challenging thing I’ve had to deal with is losing my two brothers M Bone and Jayare. I’m not over it and I never will be. Rest In Heavenly Peace to them both,” says OFB Yung. The Inglewood, California native has, however, been able to channel this grief into a catalyst for his music.
Having hundreds of unreleased tracks, the 319 Music Group creator has a lot in store. With songs like “Vibes”, a slow R&B track, in the fault, OFB Yung is rightfully confident his sound will “get them on their feet and having fun again.”
Like most successful artists, OFB Yung is not a one-man wrecking crew. Rather, he has built a strong team around him. Working with veteran and upcoming producer talent like Ness, Twin, and Safety, a certain synergy is created in his musical workflow, which you will certainly feel in his tracks as they drop.
It’s also no surprise that an artist with such vibrancy is inspired so much by Rick Ross. “Every time I listen to his music, I just get motivated,” OFB Yung says.
New and anticipated music is on the way for the legend himself OFB Yung. For the next few weeks, keep your eyes out for a fun song that he put together called “Ready Set Go”. It is a track to get people up and moving so there is a lot of new versatility coming for the star. Keep tabs on everything coming from OFB Yung through his Instagram as well as his Spotify.
