Nec Nymbl Targets Talib Kweli on Self-Produced “Tell-Lib Scrawny”

Published on October 07, 2026

The Toronto artist brings his independent production approach and Orthodox Christian perspective to a diss record aimed at Talib Kweli.

Nec Nymbl has released “Tell-Lib Scrawny (Talib Kweli Diss Track),” a self-produced single that channels his criticism of Talib Kweli into a direct musical response. Available on streaming platforms with an official music video, the record places arguments about public conduct, political consistency and spiritual conviction at the center of its message.

An MC, producer, engineer and DJ, Nymbl approaches the release with the hands-on independence that runs through his broader work. His recent collaborations include “Age of Revelation” with Myka 9 and RAjaw, while this solo track puts his own voice and production behind a pointed challenge to one specific artist.

Nymbl frames the song as a response to online disagreements with Kweli. He questions what he sees as a gap between anti-establishment rhetoric and proximity to music-industry power, using the diss format to argue for greater consistency between an artist’s public principles and behavior. Those criticisms express Nymbl’s perspective on the dispute; they do not establish the allegations about Kweli as fact.

Eastern Orthodox Christianity and Greek heritage are central to the position Nymbl takes. He connects his opposition to authoritarianism with his family’s experiences of Nazi occupation and resistance in Greece, and presents the record as a defense of his convictions. His argument also rejects rigid left-versus-right political labels and challenges the use of ideological shorthand in place of substantive discussion.

The track’s wider concerns include the relationship between faith and progressive politics, celebrity influence and the standards applied to public figures. Nymbl directs those concerns toward Kweli here, extending the confrontational cultural commentary he explored on “ODD I SEE”. His self-produced approach keeps the current release focused on his own musical and ideological point of view.

“Tell-Lib Scrawny” is out now, with the vocal track and a separate instrumental listed on Amazon Music. Listeners can hear the single on Spotify, watch the official video above and follow @necnymbl on Instagram or his YouTube channel for more music.
