Megan Thee Stallion opened up about the breakup in a new InStyle cover interview, describing the end of her relationship with Klay Thompson as “very rough.” The rapper said she had been trying to make a situation work even as it repeatedly left her feeling uncomfortable and on edge.

Looking back, Megan said she was “trying to fit myself into someone else’s life” and admitted, “I was losing myself a little bit.” She added that she is now focused on “finding me again,” framing the split as a lesson in recognizing when a relationship is forcing her away from who she is.

Megan also made clear that her career and independence will remain central to any relationship she enters going forward. “I cannot be disrespected,” she told the magazine, later explaining that she wants an equal partner who understands that she will continue working, creating music and living as her own person.

The comments arrive about five months after Megan publicly confirmed the breakup in April. At the time, she said trust, fidelity and respect were non-negotiable values for her and indicated that those standards had been compromised during the relationship.

Megan and Thompson had made their romance public in 2025 before becoming a regular presence together at events and on social media. Thompson, a veteran NBA guard, has not publicly addressed Megan’s latest comments about the relationship.
