Lando Norris Extends McLaren Contract Through 2030 After F1 Title

Reigning Formula 1 champion Lando Norris has committed his long-term future to McLaren, extending a partnership that began nearly a decade ago through at least the end of 2030.

McLaren announced that Lando Norris has signed a new contract keeping him with the team until at least the end of 2030, with a multi-year option that could extend the partnership even further. The agreement gives the reigning world champion and the Woking-based team long-term stability as they continue chasing Formula 1 titles together.

Norris first joined McLaren’s junior program in 2017 before earning a Formula 1 race seat in 2019. Since then, the British driver has become the longest-serving race driver in the team’s history by Grand Prix starts, while building a résumé that includes 13 wins, 18 pole positions, 48 podiums and the 2025 Drivers’ World Championship.

The new deal also carries a major personal reward from McLaren. Norris will be gifted an MCL39 from his championship-winning 2025 season, when he helped the team secure a second consecutive Constructors’ Championship and became McLaren’s first Formula 1 drivers’ champion since 2008.

“McLaren is my home,” Norris said in the team’s announcement, adding that the group had already achieved the championship goals he set when the journey began. He made clear that the next objective is to keep winning, with the extension locking in his place at McLaren through the next several seasons.

Team principal Andrea Stella said the extension provides important continuity after Norris grew from a junior-program prospect into a central figure in McLaren’s return to the front of the grid. CEO Zak Brown also pointed to Norris’ development as an example of the team’s long-term approach, while teammate Oscar Piastri is already secured on his own extended agreement.

The timing gives McLaren one of Formula 1’s biggest pieces of long-term business settled while Norris remains in his prime at 26. After winning the 2025 championship and adding victories in Hungary and the Netherlands during the 2026 campaign, the defending champion now has a deal that could keep him in papaya through the end of the decade and potentially beyond.
