Kodak Black Sentenced to Nearly 4 Years in Prison over Weapons Charges

Kodak Black receives 46-month prison sentence on federal weapons charges. The almost 4-year sentence stems from Kodak Black’s arrest during Rolling Loud Festival weekend in his native Miami, Florida. Ultimately, the rapper, legal name Bill Kapri faced a maximum of 10 years behind bars for falsifying documents to obtain a firearm.

The Miami Herald reports, Kodak Black admitted to lying on a background check form when purchasing handguns at a Hialeah weapons store in both January and March. The initial purchases were approved because Kodak Black used a false social security number. In March however when he returned to purchase more weapons, the rapper used his correct information which resulted in a blocked sale.

According to Kodak Black’s lawyer Bradford Cohen, the rapper purchased the guns for self-defense following death threats from gang members. Kodak Black also faces sexual assault charges in South Carolina in the rape case of a teenage girl reports The State.
