John Legend’s October 23 album pairs Pharrell’s production with 16 tracks, including a Clipse reunion.
John Legend enters release week with Muse arriving October 23 through Republic Records. Rather than sharing production across a long list of collaborators, the singer has built this album around a full-length partnership with Pharrell Williams, who produced the complete project and contributed to its writing.
The collaboration grew from Legend’s appearance on Clipse’s “The Birds Don’t Sing.” As detailed in Universal Music’s album announcement, that performance prompted Pharrell to propose a larger project, with the pair beginning work at his Louis Vuitton headquarters studio in Paris in January 2025.
The album’s 16-track sequence mixes songs with brief introductions, including separate lead-ins to “Her,” “Under The Bridge” and “Bodies On The Floor.” The tracklist on Legend’s official website places “Daylight” fifth, while “Everything” and “Sail Off” bring the record to its conclusion.
“Daylight” accompanied the September announcement, making it an early entry point into the collaboration rather than a surprise release this week. Its official audio, included below, offers a direct preview as the countdown moves toward Friday.
Clipse appear on “Bodies On The Floor,” extending the connection that helped set the album in motion. Pharrell also receives featured billing on several songs, including the title track and “Fireflies,” whose video preceded the album, making his role audible as well as behind the scenes.
Muse follows My Favorite Dream in Legend’s album catalog, but this release brings the focus back to a sustained collaboration with Pharrell. With pre-save options available through Legend’s official website, listeners have the tracklist and early releases in hand ahead of the complete album’s October 23 arrival.
