The Flaming Lips have announced a new album and a run of smaller-venue shows that will carry its release into early 2027.

The Teardrop Throbs arrives January 22, 2027, marking the Flaming Lips’ seventeenth studio album. Third Man Records announced the project on October 26, introducing the band’s first album for the label and its first new studio LP since 2020’s American Head.

The record contains 13 tracks, with “God Will Control the Werewolves” leading the announcement. Its release gives listeners a first entry into the project ahead of the full album, rather than leaving the campaign at a title and date alone.

The band produced the album with Taylor Johnson, Dave Fridmann and Scott Booker, with additional production from Jon and Mike Fridmann. The credited team connects the new release to collaborators involved in shaping the band’s recorded work.

Ten announced shows will visit five cities, with two nights in each location. The run begins at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl on January 22 and 23, followed by New York’s Irving Plaza on January 26 and 27.

Los Angeles dates at the Bellwether follow on February 23 and 24, before Chicago’s Metro on February 27 and 28. The announced itinerary then reaches London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on April 2 and 3, extending the live rollout beyond the album’s opening month.

The label announcement lists an artist presale beginning October 28 and general ticket sales on October 30. Together, the album, opening song and paired concert dates give the return a defined shape, with the full record arriving at the start of the Nashville engagement.
