Kuniva and Swifty McVay bring Hush, Calicoe, Guilty Simpson and Melanie Rutherford together for a hometown salute on “Detroit State Of Mind.”
D12 put their city at the center of “Detroit State Of Mind,” released on October 30, 2026. Credited to D12, Kuniva and Swifty McVay, the single gathers four guests for a compact statement about the place and people behind their music.
Detroit pride and perseverance connect the verses, with the hook built around hard work and determination. Kuniva opens by recalling lessons from Proof, while Swifty McVay makes a case for the city’s appeal through an invitation to visitors and a declaration of hometown loyalty.
The guests broaden that picture. Hush references The Shelter and the Dirty Dozen’s history, Calicoe reflects on loss and the drive he associates with Proof, and Guilty Simpson brings J Dilla into the tribute alongside his own Michigan perspective.
The accompanying official music video is directed by 12MileKyle and edited by Diego Cruz. Released through D12’s official channel, it gives the collaboration a dedicated visual alongside the streaming single.
“Detroit State Of Mind” also arrives during the group’s D12 Forever: Volume 1 chapter, with the album linked alongside the new song on the official video page. The single’s focus on loyalty and shared history carries that continuing connection to the group’s roots into a gathering of Detroit voices.
The 3-minute, 19-second release is available on Apple Music, with Hush, Calicoe, Guilty Simpson and Melanie Rutherford all included in its featured credits. It is issued under My Brothers Keeper Entertainment LLC / Compound Interest.
