CORTIS have teamed up with Juicy J for their new digital single, “MOTION,” bringing the five-member group together with one of Southern hip-hop’s most influential voices. Released through BIGHIT MUSIC on July 31, the two-minute track connects CORTIS’ youthful creative energy with Juicy J’s unmistakable Memphis presence.
The collaboration began taking shape long before CORTIS made their debut. The group first worked with Juicy J during early studio sessions on an unreleased song titled “The League.” James recalled that Juicy J guided him and Martin through the rap process, offered valuable advice and encouraged them to trust the style that felt most natural to them.
Although “The League” never appeared on an album, the artists remained connected. Martin’s knowledge of Juicy J’s career, Memphis rap and Southern hip-hop also helped strengthen the relationship, making their eventual reunion on “MOTION” feel more personal than a standard cross-market collaboration.
The song was shaped by both sides rather than forcing either artist into an unfamiliar sound. Juicy J contributed ideas for the hook and melody, while CORTIS developed those concepts through their own production style. That creative exchange allowed the record to carry Juicy J’s veteran confidence without losing the group’s individuality and forward-looking approach.
Martin and Juhoon also helped write the second verse, drawing from their own experiences to support the song’s message of movement, growth and new beginnings. With “MOTION,” CORTIS turn an early studio connection into a meaningful release that shows how far they have come while giving listeners another glimpse of where they plan to go next.
