Bunnie Xo says the private reality of her split from Jelly Roll was far more painful than her upbeat public image suggested, revealing that heartbreak left her struggling to eat and needing IV support.

Bunnie Xo is opening up about the physical toll of her Jelly Roll divorce, telling Jenna Bush Hager on Open Book with Jenna that the breakup pushed her into an intensely difficult period behind closed doors. The 46-year-old podcaster said she lost 20 pounds while trying to cope with the end of a marriage that had lasted nearly a decade.

According to People, Bunnie said there were moments when her team had to help her off the floor and get her IVs because she was not eating. She said she was relying on baby food just to get by, adding a darkly humorous observation that heartbreak had become an extreme diet.

Bunnie explained that her decision not to document herself crying on social media should not be mistaken for an absence of grief. She said she would rather show people strength, resilience and the process of rebuilding, even while acknowledging that the most painful moments often happened away from the cameras.

She also pushed back on becoming defined by the breakup, describing divorce as devastating because families and hearts can be broken in the process. Her focus now is on healing, moving forward and finding happiness instead of remaining publicly tied to the most difficult chapter of the split.

The former couple announced their separation in May 2026 after nearly 10 years of marriage, and their divorce was finalized in July. Bunnie previously said the split followed a heated Mother’s Day argument in which she told Jelly Roll to file for divorce, later explaining that she had spoken from anger and frustration and that the divorce was not truly mutual from her perspective.

Despite the emotional fallout, Bunnie has continued to frame this stage of her life around rebuilding rather than bitterness. Her latest comments offer a more vulnerable picture of what that transition cost her physically while reinforcing the message she says she wants people to see: pain can exist alongside resilience and a determination to start again.
