Bebe Rexha says she made the first move on Drake after watching his viral ‘20v1’ livestream, but the Instagram message she sent never produced a response.
Bebe Rexha revealed the unsuccessful DM during a new appearance on Angie Martinez’s IRL podcast, where the conversation turned to dating and whether she is comfortable making the first move. In the official iHeart episode, Rexha said she recently messaged Drake after seeing his “20v1” speed-dating livestream.
Rexha said she pitched herself confidently, telling Drake she was his “dream girl” and making the case that she has her own career and personality. The pop star laughed about the move during the interview, but said the message did not lead to a reply.
She also clarified that she cannot say Drake deliberately ignored her. According to Rexha, he does not follow her on Instagram and the message never showed as read, leaving open the possibility that it simply remained in his message requests rather than being consciously rejected.
The DM was not Rexha’s first memorable interaction with the Toronto rapper. She recalled seeing him at an awards show and greeting him by calling him “Daddy,” only to get an uncomfortable reaction before a member of his security team told her not to address him that way.
Rexha also joked about Rihanna while discussing Drake’s dating history, saying it would be difficult for anyone to follow someone she considers one of the most attractive women in the world. The comment was playful rather than a claim about Drake’s current relationship status.
Despite the unanswered DM, Rexha did not sound embarrassed about shooting her shot. She suggested that a mutual friend could discreetly find out whether Drake has any interest, while Martinez joked that the situation might at least lead to a song or studio collaboration.
The story comes directly from Rexha rather than an anonymous dating rumor, and her qualification about the unread message is important. She knows Drake did not respond, but by her own account she does not know whether he ever actually saw what she sent.
