Artists On The Rise: Meet Darius Payne

Throughout hip hop’s history, rap has told the story of it’s artists. Artists like Jay Z and Young Jeezy have made a name by telling the story of their development in the communities they grew up in. Rite now hip hop music is the most popular genre in the world! Astonishingly, “the south” is the heart and soul of rap music.

States like Georgia and Florida have pumped out huge artists over the years; however, many people forget about the state of Mississippi and the talent there. Luckily, we’ve had a chance to catch up with a truly gifted artist from “The Sip”, his name is Darius Payne. Darius grew up in Greenville, Mississippi. An area that doesn’t offer many opportunities for artists. According to him, “if you make a name for yourself in Greenville, it’s because you put in the work”. Darius is a self proclaimed lyricist who had been proven to be one of the most dedicated artists in the state.

He currently holds four large bodies of work and another four small bodies of work under his belt. One of these projects was even hosted by Bigga Rankin; and it’s titled “Hell State”.
