The Chicago organization is collecting winter clothing and everyday essentials through January 10.

Chance the Rapper’s SocialWorks has opened its ninth annual Warmest Winter clothing drive. The collection period began November 2 and runs through January 10, 2027, with donation boxes at 11 locations across Chicago.

The organization’s November 2 announcement identifies support for individuals and families experiencing homelessness as the campaign’s focus. Local businesses and other collection partners are helping gather supplies throughout the winter period.

Accepted donations include new or gently used coats, hats, scarves, gloves, blankets and other warming items. SocialWorks is also collecting toys, diapers, baby clothing and new hygiene products, including soap, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Food and canned goods are not accepted. The organization advises donors to check building access before visiting office or residential collection points and to account for holiday closures, rather than assuming every location keeps the same hours.

The seasonal collection is part of a broader year-round program. SocialWorks describes Warmest Winter as an initiative that has expanded since 2015 to include volunteering, excursions and holiday activities; its SocialThreads clothing pantry also works with Chicago’s Department of Family Support Services.

Previous drives have drawn support from local schools. In a February community update, Chicago Public Schools reported that Owen Elementary’s Class of 2026 donated eight bags of supplies during the school’s third year participating, an example of the neighborhood involvement behind the collection.
