Lil Nas X’s first release since March 2025 pairs a new Columbia single with a dedication to his late mother, Tamikia Hill.
Lil Nas X has released “World’s Greatest!”, returning with new music on October 1 through Columbia Records. The standalone single arrives more than a year after Days Before Dreamboy, with the rapper and singer placing his own history at the center of the release.
He wrote the song himself, with C.WRAY and Steve Rusch handling production. The record reflects on the distance between his beginnings and his life today, addressing the work of holding on to ambition through setbacks rather than presenting success as a finished story.
The dedication gives that perspective a specific emotional foundation. Before the single arrived, Lil Nas X shared a voicemail from his mother encouraging him to keep going and trust that things would work out; both the song and its accompanying video are dedicated to her.
The visual brings him back to Atlanta, where director Phillip Youmans connects scenes from his adult life with representations of his childhood. Its meeting of past and present extends the single’s focus on remembering where he started while deciding how to move forward.
His previous project, Days Before Dreamboy, arrived on March 28, 2025, collecting eight tracks including “LIGHT AGAIN!” and “HOTBOX.” That release followed his 2021 debut, MONTERO, making “World’s Greatest!” the latest addition to a catalog that has moved between compact singles and larger personal statements.
The new release is available on Apple Music and Spotify, with more listening options on Lil Nas X’s official release page. The song’s arrival and its family dedication give this return a clear starting point: a new record grounded in the person and experiences behind the artist.
