The Oakland rapper voiced support for Combs while saying the violence captured in the Cassie hotel video was unacceptable.
Too $hort says he intends to attend Diddy’s eventual homecoming party. During his appearance on The TMZ Podcast, he said, “I’m going to the Puff Daddy coming home party.”
His support came with a condemnation of the 2016 hotel surveillance footage showing Combs assaulting Cassie. Too $hort criticized that violence while questioning whether the offenses behind Combs’ federal conviction warranted his incarceration, as HOT 97 reported.
The veteran rapper described his own experiences around Combs as social occasions involving music and parties. Those personal recollections explain his perspective, but they do not establish what occurred outside his presence or resolve the allegations raised in Combs’ legal cases.
Combs received a 50-month prison sentence in October 2025 after a jury convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, and remains incarcerated at Fort Dix in New Jersey.
Too $hort also urged caution about a high-profile comeback, suggesting Combs should carefully gauge his reception after prison. The party remark expressed his own intention; the interview did not provide a date, venue or formal announcement for a homecoming event.
The conversation arrived during promotion for Sir Too $hort Vol. 2: Drink & Smoke, released July 31. Produced by Lil Jon, the album continued the Oakland artist’s recording run at age 60, giving the interview a broader focus than his comments about Combs.
