PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA — Few artists can say they have performed everywhere from enormous venues to punk rock dive bars and Marxist bookstores, but Ghais Guevara has built his career around exactly those kinds of contrasts. Born and raised in North Philadelphia, the rapper has developed an identity shaped by his surroundings, his upbringing, and a deep connection to generational radical Black thought.
Those contrasts have become a defining part of Ghais Guevara’s artistry. His music brings together sharp lyricism, unconventional production, and a wide range of cultural influences, creating an experience that refuses to settle into one predictable lane.
His standout projects, There Will Be No Super-Slave and Goyard Ibn Said, helped establish him as an artist capable of turning complex ideas and personal experiences into compelling music. Both projects received recognition from outlets including Vice, NPR, and The Needle Drop, further bringing attention to his distinctive approach to hip-hop.
As a one-man band behind much of his sound, Ghais Guevara also brings a strong production element to his work. His ability to shape his own instrumentals allows the music to move freely between intensity, experimentation, and moments of unexpected restraint, creating a backdrop for his stream-of-consciousness lyricism.
His newest EP, Cantos of Ghais, continues that creative direction. The project sees Ghais Guevara once again blending his fixations, observations, and ideas into a stream of consciousness designed to challenge listeners and shift their perspective. The result is a release that encourages audiences to look beyond the surface and engage with the ideas woven throughout his writing.

The EP also features electrifying instrumentals from Playa Haze and 2Zenith, adding another layer to its unconventional sound. Across the project, listeners are encouraged to pay close attention to the lyricism while navigating the intentionally absurd and eclectic collection of influences surrounding the Goyard Ibn Said character.
With Cantos of Ghais, Ghais Guevara continues to push the boundaries of how hip-hop can sound, read, and feel. His music remains rooted in storytelling and self-expression while leaving plenty of room for experimentation, cultural commentary, and unexpected creative choices.
