Lexington, Kentucky Hip-Hop artist Tres Aurland channels more than two decades of experience, perseverance and personal growth into his deeply reflective new six-track EP, VII-I-XCII.
LEXINGTON, KY, September 2026: For Tres Aurland, music has never been a temporary pursuit. The Lexington artist began creating music before the age of 10 in 2002, and more than two decades later, that same commitment continues to shape his work. His latest EP, VII-I-XCII, turns years of struggle, pain and personal growth into a project centered on the strength required to keep moving forward.
Across six tracks, VII-I-XCII gives listeners an intimate look at the difficult moments that have shaped Tres both personally and creatively. Rather than treating adversity as something easily overcome, the project explores the uncertainty, frustration and emotional weight that can accompany life’s hardest seasons while emphasizing the resilience needed to push through them.
That honesty gives the EP much of its strength. Although the stories and emotions come from Tres Aurland’s own experiences, the themes are intentionally universal, allowing listeners to connect the music to challenges within their own lives. VII-I-XCII becomes less about one artist’s struggle and more about the decision to keep going when circumstances make progress feel impossible.
Tres’ persistence is also reflected in the remarkable body of work he has built independently. Since 2016, he has released more than 50 projects, creating an extensive catalog that highlights both his consistency and willingness to evolve. His longevity has come from continuing to create, experiment and sharpen his identity without abandoning the experiences that first drew him toward music.
Along the way, Tres has worked with several respected names in Hip-Hop, including Project Pat, Twista, Krayzie Bone, Rittz and Jelly Roll. Those collaborations add another layer to a career shaped by independence, relationships and a genuine commitment to the culture, while his extensive solo catalog demonstrates that his work ethic remains one of his strongest qualities.
More than 20 years into his musical journey, Tres continues to embrace growth instead of relying on what he has already accomplished. His music has developed alongside an ever-changing Hip-Hop landscape, but authentic storytelling, versatility and consistency remain at the center of his approach. That balance gives VII-I-XCII the perspective of an artist who has lived through the experiences he is documenting.
With VII-I-XCII, Tres Aurland transforms hardship into something purposeful, creating music that acknowledges pain without allowing it to have the final word. The EP represents another chapter in a career built on persistence and proves that longevity is not simply measured by years or release totals, but by an artist’s ability to continue showing up, growing and telling his story with conviction.
VII-I-XCII is available now on major streaming platforms and can be streamed directly through Tres Aurland’s Bandcamp: https://tresaurland.bandcamp.com/album/vii-i-xcii-ep. Follow Tres Aurland on Instagram at @therealtresaurland for new music and updates.
