Stevie Wonder is celebrating five decades of Songs in the Key of Life with a new international tour built around full performances of his landmark 1976 album.
Stevie Wonder has announced the Songs in the Key of Life 50th anniversary tour, an 18-date run through Europe and the United States this fall. According to Pitchfork, Wonder will perform the album in its entirety at every stop, beginning October 13 in Birmingham, England, and wrapping December 19 at Intuit Dome in the Los Angeles area.
The European leg includes shows in cities such as Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin and London before the U.S. run opens November 19 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The itinerary also brings Wonder to Chicago, Washington, D.C., Detroit and other major markets, including two December performances at Detroit’s Fox Theatre, where the Michigan-born Motown legend has a deep history.
Originally released in September 1976, Songs in the Key of Life became one of Wonder’s defining works, with classics including “Sir Duke,” “I Wish,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” “As” and “Pastime Paradise.” The double album earned Wonder his third Grammy Award for Album of the Year and was later selected for the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry.
The anniversary shows are not Wonder’s first time presenting the project from beginning to end. He performed the album in full at his House Full of Toys benefit in Los Angeles in 2013, then took the concept on the road during a celebrated tour that continued through 2015.
The 2026 run returns the complete album to the stage exactly 50 years after its release. Wonder wrote, produced and arranged the majority of the record while playing numerous instruments, with contributors including Herbie Hancock, George Benson and Minnie Riperton helping shape its expansive sound.
Tickets are being released on different schedules depending on the market, with several U.S. dates going on sale in September. The tour gives fans another chance to hear one of Wonder’s most acclaimed albums as a complete live work rather than a selection of hits spread across a career-spanning set.
