Tua Tagovailoa’s latest Instagram post took an unexpected turn after his own verified account appeared to leave him a congratulatory message, quickly setting off burner-account jokes online.
Tagovailoa shared a carousel Tuesday from his first preseason with the Atlanta Falcons, captioning the post, “For the A.” The unusual part came in the comments, where his own account wrote, “We’re so proud of you!! You got this,” prompting fans to wonder whether the quarterback had accidentally replied from the wrong profile.
The moment spread quickly across social media as screenshots circulated, but there is no confirmation that Tagovailoa actually operates a burner account. The nearly identical wording of a later message from his wife, Annah Tagovailoa, instead pointed toward a more ordinary account-switching mistake.
According to Heavy, Annah later commented, “We are so proud of you! You got this!!” from her own account, while the original message from Tua’s page was deleted. That sequence fueled the idea that someone managing both accounts may simply have posted the supportive message from the wrong one.
The social-media mix-up arrived as Tagovailoa prepares for a new chapter in Atlanta following six seasons with the Miami Dolphins. He remains part of the Falcons’ quarterback picture alongside Michael Penix Jr., and the team kept him on its initial 53-man roster after the preseason.
Tagovailoa also recently returned to Miami for the Falcons’ preseason finale, completing 7 of 8 passes for 95 yards in Atlanta’s 17-12 win over the Dolphins. The performance gave him a productive finish to the exhibition schedule as the Falcons moved toward Week 1.
For now, the Instagram comment appears to be a funny account-management mishap rather than proof of a secret profile. The episode still gave NFL fans plenty to talk about, while Tagovailoa’s focus turns back to football and his role with Atlanta heading into the regular season.
