The Game reconnects with Kanye West and Mike & Keys on “40 Nights,” a tense new collaboration from his long-awaited album The Documentary III.
The Game’s “40 Nights” arrived on August 21 as part of The Documentary III, pairing the Compton rapper with Kanye West and production duo Mike & Keys. The track is one of the album’s most prominent reunions, bringing Game and Ye back together after years of collaborations that have included “Crack Music,” “Wouldn’t Get Far” and “Eazy.”
Across the record, both rappers lean into a confrontational tone while reflecting on public backlash, loyalty and their place in hip-hop. Ye handles the chorus and also contributes a verse, while The Game uses his sections to address controversy surrounding his collaborator and several of the conversations that have followed Ye in recent years.

Complex reported that Game directly references Ye’s past antisemitic remarks in his second verse, while Ye’s own lyrics revisit the public reaction to his behavior. The subject matter makes “40 Nights” one of the more provocative cuts on The Documentary III, even as the record stays centered on the pair’s confidence and competitive edge.
The collaboration also connects back to a long creative history between the two rappers. Game appeared on “Crack Music” from Ye’s 2005 album Late Registration, and their relationship has continued through multiple eras, giving “40 Nights” added weight for listeners familiar with their earlier work.
“40 Nights” is available now as part of The Documentary III, a 24-track project that also features appearances from Drake, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, YG, Black Thought, PARTYNEXTDOOR and others. The album marks The Game’s first proper studio LP since 2022’s Drillmatic – Heart vs. Mind and extends the Documentary series more than two decades after its original installment.
