Wendy Williams could soon become the subject of two separate documentary projects, with Peacock and Netflix reportedly developing competing productions about the former daytime television host’s life, career and recent personal challenges. Neither streaming service has officially announced a title, release date or complete creative team for its project.
According to The U.S. Sun, Wendy’s former executive producer Suzanne Bass is involved with the Peacock documentary, while Netflix is separately developing its own production. Sources offered conflicting accounts about whether Williams was ever expected to participate in Peacock’s project, and representatives for both platforms have not publicly confirmed many of the reported details.
The two productions are reportedly competing to reach audiences first, suggesting that each platform may present a different interpretation of Williams’ journey. Her transformation from a provocative New York radio personality into one of daytime television’s most recognizable hosts gives filmmakers decades of material to explore.
Any new documentary will also face questions about how Williams’ health and court-appointed guardianship are handled. Her circumstances have generated extensive public debate, making consent, access and the perspective chosen by each production especially important to how viewers receive the finished projects.
Williams was previously featured in Lifetime’s controversial 2024 docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams?, which documented her life following the end of The Wendy Williams Show. The project drew criticism over the vulnerable condition in which she appeared and became connected to a legal dispute involving her guardian.
Despite the growing reports, Peacock and Netflix have not formally announced their documentaries, leaving their release plans and level of access uncertain. Should both projects move forward, audiences may receive two sharply different examinations of Williams’ influential career, complicated personal life and lasting impact on entertainment media.
