Victor Wembanyama is entering signature sneaker territory with Nike. The San Antonio Spurs star has reportedly agreed to a new long-term deal with the sportswear company that includes the creation of his own signature shoe line.

Wembanyama has represented Nike since 2022, when he was still playing professionally in France. His previous agreement was reportedly due to expire in October, but the new deal keeps one of basketball’s biggest young stars with the brand for the foreseeable future. The name, design, price and release date of his first official signature sneaker have not yet been revealed, according to ESPN.

Nike added to the anticipation by unveiling new branding for Wembanyama. The visual features glowing “V” and “W” initials appearing in space and forming an alien-like silhouette, continuing the futuristic identity that has followed him throughout his rise in the NBA.

The “Alien” theme has already played a major role in Wembanyama’s Nike releases, including special editions of the G.T. Hustle and G.T. Cut series. A true signature model, however, would give Nike the opportunity to develop footwear specifically around his unusual combination of height, mobility, shooting and defensive ability.

The agreement also places Wembanyama alongside established Nike signature athletes such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo. It represents another major step in his growth from a highly anticipated international prospect into one of the most recognizable players in professional basketball.

With Wembanyama’s unique personality, global following and science-fiction-inspired branding, his first signature shoe could become one of Nike Basketball’s most closely watched releases. Until official images and release information arrive, the newly revealed logo offers the clearest indication yet of the creative direction surrounding the upcoming line.
