PG COUNTY, MD – From the heart of Prince George’s County to the global stage, Cameron Lacey, better known as CAL 301, is quickly solidifying his name as one of hip-hop’s most promising rising talents. At just 24 years old, CAL 301 has already carved out a space for himself with his razor-sharp lyricism, emotionally grounded storytelling, and relentless work ethic—and 2025 is shaping up to be his most impactful year yet.
CAL’s story begins in 2016, when he first picked up a pen and began writing raps. But it wasn’t until his senior year of high school, while living abroad in Spain as a soccer player, that he had a life-changing realization. Immersed in the country’s rich artistic and cultural energy, he experienced a creative epiphany that steered him toward music as his true calling. That moment of clarity set him on a course of artistic dedication and personal evolution.
By 2019, CAL released his debut project, “CAL: The Mixtape,” on SoundCloud, marking the official start of his journey. Since then, he has maintained a consistent release schedule—dropping new music every year without fail—each time leveling up in artistry and intention.
New Release: “FILTHY” – A Nostalgic, High-Octane Standout
On July 18th, CAL 301 dropped his latest single, “FILTHY”, a high-energy track that pays homage to the golden age of hip-hop with a raw, ‘90s-inspired sound reminiscent of the Beastie Boys. The song bursts with vibrant energy, hard-hitting bars, and an infectious flow that encourages repeat listens. With clever punchlines and quotable verses, “FILTHY” showcases CAL’s sharp pen and undeniable charisma.
“FILTHY captures that gritty old-school feel with a modern edge. It’s one of those tracks that grabs you from the first beat,” CAL explains. “It’s bold, loud, and unapologetically me.”
Major Milestones: Spotify Recognition and Festival Debut
2025 has already brought in a wave of momentum for CAL. In July, he surpassed 20,000 monthly listeners on Spotify for the first time in his career, reflecting a growing fanbase and heightened visibility. Spotify also curated a “This Is CAL 301” playlist, highlighting his most notable songs and validating his place among the next generation of impactful artists.
Adding to the momentum, CAL performed at his first-ever music festival on August 2nd—Locally Grown, held in his home state of Maryland. The performance not only expanded his reach but gave him a platform to connect with fans face-to-face in a high-energy, live setting.
“Performing at Locally Grown was a dream come true. To be surrounded by local talent and perform in front of my community—it was surreal,” CAL shared.
Rooted in Inspiration, Guided by Intentionality
CAL draws creative influence from a wide range of hip-hop luminaries—J. Cole, Logic, Aminé, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar—all of whom have shaped his lyrical style and commitment to authenticity. But it’s CAL’s lived experience, from suburban Maryland to overseas cultural immersion, that brings a unique global sensibility to his music.
His music is often reflective and cinematic, grounded in his own story while also universal in its themes—growth, ambition, self-discovery, and perseverance.
What’s Next: More Singles, an Album in the Works, and a Clear Vision for 2026
As the second half of 2025 unfolds, CAL 301 has no intention of slowing down. He has confirmed plans to release at least three more singles before the end of the year, teasing that more music may follow depending on how the creative process flows.
Beyond singles, CAL is already laying the groundwork for his next major chapter: a full-length album, slated for production this fall and winter. The album is currently targeted for a Spring 2026 release and is expected to be his most personal, ambitious, and refined body of work to date.
“2025 has been a really good year for me so far in terms of music, and I hope to carry this momentum into 2026,” CAL says with clarity and determination.
With a clear vision, growing fanbase, and the creative fuel to back it up, CAL 301 is building something bigger than a moment—he’s building a legacy.
