Fade Dresto: Finding His Voice in El Paso’s Underground

It’s a long road from El Paso’s sunbaked streets to the bigger stages of the music industry, but for Benjamin Becerra—better known as Fade Dresto—it’s the journey that matters. Raised on a mix of techno beats and late-night lyrical cyphers, Fade Dresto’s music is all about intention, emotion, and telling the truth, even when it hurts.

A Sound Born From Freedom and Influence

Music came naturally to Fade Dresto, but it was never just about making noise. “The ability to express myself freely got me into music,” he says, thinking back on the early days. Two people played crucial roles in lighting that fire: his brother, who dragged him to raves and opened his ears to the pulse of techno, and his childhood friend Daniel, who introduced him to the more lyrical side of hip hop and R&B. While his brother’s tastes leaned toward the electronic, those influences just nudged Fade Dresto toward discovering a sound that was all his own.

Why Fade Dresto Stands Out

Every artist likes to think they’re unique, but Fade Dresto backs it up with intention. “I’m very intentional with all my music and always make sure I have enough emotion in my lyrics,” he says. “Not saying a lot of artists don’t, but a lot of today’s music lacks substance and just talks about nonsense.” For him, every track is a chance to say something real, and he refuses to waste a single bar.

Lyrics With Weight

If you want to know what sets Fade Dresto apart, look no further than his favorite line from his own song “Gravy Life”:

“My life is gravy, my pen is dancing, don’t love these hoes, my baddie wavy and I’m the captain so adios, be ready when moving mountains these people gotta know, don’t get lost inside the hype that’s how the fake control.”

It’s a line that’s part flex, part warning, and all heart—a perfect snapshot of the way he approaches both music and life.

Eyes on the Future

Fade Dresto isn’t just making tracks—he’s building a brand. “I’m looking to get brand deals and many business ventures within the entertainment industry,” he says. He’s not content with just being an artist; he wants to be a force, a name, and a business.

What’s Next?

Right now, he’s focused on his latest single, “Home”—a song that came out of some of the hardest times he’s ever faced. Written during a period of homelessness, “Home” is more than just music; it’s survival set to a beat. It’s also Fade Dresto’s first record with Billboard charting producer Olivier Bassil, marking a new chapter in his journey.

If you want to keep up with Fade Dresto or listen to his latest tracks, check him out on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or visit his website. The El Paso native is just getting started, and if his story so far is any indication, he’s got a lot more to say.
