Two people played crucial roles in lighting that fire: his brother, who dragged him to raves and opened his ears to the pulse of techno, and his childhood friend Daniel, who introduced him to the more lyrical side of hip hop and R&B. While his brother’s tastes leaned toward the electronic, those influences just nudged Fade Dresto toward discovering a sound that was all his own.

Every artist likes to think they’re unique, but Fade Dresto backs it up with intention. “I’m very intentional with all my music and always make sure I have enough emotion in my lyrics,” he says. “Not saying a lot of artists don’t, but a lot of today’s music lacks substance and just talks about nonsense.” For him, every track is a chance to say something real, and he refuses to waste a single bar.
