Rex Roland, the legendary artist and producer, drops their latest album, PPH Confidential, set for release on the 1st of June, 2025. This electrifying project marks the third installment in the revived Analog Brother$ saga, a concept born in 2020 that’s been igniting the underground ever since.
PPH Confidential is a gritty dive into Analog Brother$ hip hop universe, following the success of Psychedelic Pimp Giant Robot (2023) and Players of the Universe (2024). Originally conceived with hip hop heavyweights Ice T, Kool Keith, Mark Live, and Black Silver, the Analog Brother$ project skyrocketed to a deal with E-music just four months after their debut album, Pimp to Eat. Now, Rex Roland is steering the ship solo, promising a new album every year. With a few special guest artists joining the fray, PPH Confidential cements a legacy of blending raw lyricism with mind-bending production.
This album is a testament to Rex Roland’s lifelong hustle. From his early days as a street dancer, locking and popping on Soul Train and Solid Gold Hits, to becoming the first break dancer with an act on Venice Beach, as featured in a 1985 People magazine article, “Stars of the Streets,” Rex Roland has always been a trailblazer. His Venice Beach performances, fueled by original music crafted on his first drum machine, “Dr Rhythm,” earned him $600 a day, which he poured into building his home studio. From there, he never stopped producing, creating music inspired by his Hollywood experiences.
Rex Roland’s PPH Confidential is an exhilarating ride through sonic dimensions only he could map. Blending sci-fi flair with razor-sharp beats, the project feels both cinematic and streetwise, like a neon-lit dream rooted in hip hop’s golden foundations. Each track pulses with urgency and invention, building a vivid world that’s as unpredictable as it is immersive. Roland’s production is fearless, fusing experimental layers with hard-hitting grooves that demand attention. This isn’t just music—it’s a full-throttle mission statement from a creative force who refuses to sit still. With PPH Confidential, Rex doesn’t just push the envelope—he rewrites it entirely.
Rex Roland’s résumé reads like a hip hop hall of fame. He sang the hook on Ice T’s radio smash I’m Your Pusher Man and produced tracks for Ice T’siconic Bodycount album. His 1980s solo debut, Majestics in the Joint, is surging again, proving his music’s timeless edge. Beyond music, he produced four videos for the original Analog Brothers and crafted soundscapes for the first two seasons of Tyra Banks’ Next Top Model. He even worked with Prince on Purple Rain and counted Rick James and Ike Turner as close allies. His alter ego, “Pimp Rex,” coined by Ice T, channels a life shaped by Hollywood’s underbelly, where, as he puts it, “Harlots turned me out to be their Man of leisure.”
