For Gavyn Brooks—better known by his artist name, GSX—music isn’t just a hobby. It’s been part of his DNA since he was a kid growing up in Ocala, Florida. His journey into music started with a love for acting. “I used to see all of the Disney stars-turned-artists, like Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus, and I wanted to do it too,” he says. Watching them make the leap from screen to stage planted a dream that’s never let go.
What makes GSX stand out? Versatility and intention. While a lot of new artists chase trends, GSX is laser-focused on making his music meaningful. “My music is versatile and I make sure I put a lot of thought and meaning into what I write,” he says. He’s the type to labor over lyrics until they say exactly what he feels.
Ask him about his favorite line, and he doesn’t hesitate:
“I’ve done it all before so tell me when will it end
Said that you were taken but it’s just by a friend
So then they’ll be staring at your angel eyes”
It’s the kind of lyric that hits hard—the kind that lingers after the song fades out.
GSX isn’t just making music for himself. He’s grinding to build a following, with his sights set on becoming a major artist and eventually taking his songs on tour. Right now, he’s promoting his new EP, “Done with Goodbyes,” and he’s got a deluxe edition on the way.
