ThisMinority has returned with a new track entitled ‘Let Me Have This’ released on July 14th. The artist brings an exciting flow to this track, similar to the likes of Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar, with high energy and an unpredictable nature, switching between laid back and aggressive sections. In the chorus, he vocalises the phrase ‘Let Me Have This’ with a very relaxed and slurred annunciation, sitting back into the beat so that it contrasts the verses. The beat, made by producer Freshisui, fuses trap and hip hop, kicks are punchy and consistent, snares are crisp and the hats are constantly rolling in the high end of the track. The instrumental is characterised by its spacey synths and airy vocal samples, complimenting the pairing of vocalisation and rap that ThisMinority brings to the table.
On the new release, he shares:
“What inspired this track was me getting some alone time. Time to myself to create music, do some self-building, or just relax on my own terms. My wife had just left the house and I was listening to the beat Freshisui sent and then it started to come to me, ‘Let Me Have This.’ Most of us just need some space but sometimes feel obligated to let people into our space. Some people feel like you owe them your space. This track is to claim your space and let them know that if they do come, come in peace. No drama, only good vibes. Don’t unload your bad day on me, just give me good vibes. Come in peace in this moment where I’m trying to find peace or build on it. ‘Let Me Have This’ is a reminder to take time to yourself, the time you deserve, and give distance to those who don’t respect it or don’t come in peace. Catch up with them later because putting time aside for yourself is important.
ThisMinority is a New Orleans-born, Brooklyn-based artist influenced by a wide range of artists and genres, giving him an ability to switch up into different styles on a dime. Though some would characterise his music as hip-hop, the artist sees that what he makes is more expansive than that, straddling other genres with a hip-hop base. He got into music through other creative outlets, such as dancing and poetry, eventually progressing into rap and exploring his sound in the studio. He has grown to lean into his creative visions, which led him to creating snippet videos for his debut project, The Minority Report. Those visuals were selected to be a part of the Hip-Hop Film Festival in Harlem, NY. Upcoming gigs include Nublu in Manhattan, Empire State Music & Arts Festival in NYC, and an unscheduled New Orleans performance.
ThisMinority is an artist who works to be inspired by those around him, seeing the best in them and the best in himself, and his music reflects that. He’s got talent and drive, ‘Let Me Have This’ is another example of why this artist
