Tarrus Riley and Kareem “Remus” Burrell Link Up On “Love Salute”

Since the genre’s inception, the theme of love and togetherness has been at the heart of Lover’s Rock. As a result, international indie artist Tarrus Riley is here with his most recent release, “Love Salute.” With an infectious yet familiar baseline, this is a modern take on Roots Reggae. “Love Salute” is a heartwarming track with a powerful meaning that will appeal to both younger audiences and traditional Reggae fans. Kareem Burrell unearthed a classic production from his father Fatis’s catalog called “Hold On” to keep with the authentic expression of heavy bass and horns associated with the roots of Reggae’s expression. The original 1997 X-Terminator featured Marcia Griffiths’ vocals and the message to never give up hope for what you want.

Tarrus & Kareem Burrell Link Up

Tarrus Riley’s musical success in reggae transcends roots rock, soft rock, and dancehall. His ability to deliver a modern roots Reggae track is a skill Kareem ‘Remus’ Burrell applauds of Tarrus Riley.

Tarrus is a musical genius, and it is always a joy and a seamless musical effort working with him. His knowledge of music allows the production process to flow easily across all genres beyond Reggae. To work with a vocalist who is aware of evolution in the genre and able to use his tool, his vocal where he sees fit is magic” says Kareem ‘Remus’ Burrel.

Tarrus’ impressive catalogue showcases his finely tuned expressive vocals. Which are adaptable to a range of styles from soft rock (“Jah Will”) to traditional Rastafarian Nyabinghi drumming (“Lion Paw”) to energetic dancehall (“Good Girl Gone Bad”),” writes Patricia Meschino for The Daily Beast. There’s also the EDM power ballad served up as Major Lazer’s certified gold single “Powerful” featuring Tarrus and Ellie Goulding.

He continues the emerging roots Reggae messaging he began in 2004 with “Love Salute”. As well as encouraging everyone listening to “don’t wait until it’s too late to show the people who you love, that you love them.” Tarrus Riley goes on to say, “Salute the ones you love; simple, Love Salute.”
