Pop Smoke Shot Dead In Apparent Armed Robbery

Pop Smoke, age 20, has been shot and killed in what appears to be a robbery in his Hollyhood home in Los Angeles.

The rapper, real name Bashar Jackson, was reportedly at home in Hollywood, when two men wearing hoodies and masks entered the house and fired multiple shots, according to police sources quoted by TMZ. He was pronounced dead at a hospital in West Hollywood early on Wednesday.

According to BBC, Police responded to reports of a robbery – and man was then taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.

Pop Smoke, had only these week gotten his first US top 10 album, he was signed to Republic Records which has said in a statement “our prayers and thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans, as we mourn this loss together.”

Jackson on January 17 was arrested on a federal charge of interstate transport of a stolen vehicle at John F. Kennedy Airport.

He reportedly met with the owner of the Rolls-Royce at a recording studio in Los Angeles in the month of November. Both parties agreed that Pop Smoke could use the car for one of his upcoming videos. In exchange, the rapper would provide the owner VIP treatment at a future show.

The owner of the car reportedly asked Pop Smoke to return the car the next day but he failed to do so, which lead the owner to track the car using GPS to a location in Arizona and reported it stolen to the authorities.
