Philly? Showcases His Talents on New EP ‘Love Renaissance 143’

Phileas Smith popularly known as Philly? is a music artist and producer from Madison, Wisconsin. The 18-year-old artist has been making music for the past three years and this year, he believes he has turned a corner.

Philly?‘s new album ‘Love Renaissance 1437’ includes twenty four songs, beginning with the difficulties and tragedy that humanity has been forced to deal with the last few years, going on, to the highs and lows of relationships, and ending with the rebirth of love, after heartbreak.

“I took a year off from school after graduating from high school to focus on music and come up with the best outcome I possibly could. This album is the best work I’ve ever created, and the greatest story I’ve ever told.”

Renaissance is a French word meaning “rebirth.” It refers to a period in European civilization that was marked by a revival of Classical learning and wisdom. The album cover artwork is actually an oil painting made by his girlfriend, who is featured on the album (Liza Hopkins).

“She asked me, “what do you want me to draw or paint?” “Something that makes me think of the renaissance of love”

She took this idea and created a scene where a princess is sneaking a knight into her castle at night. This portrayal of forbidden love shows that rebellion is timeless, change is inevitable, and love rules all.

While “when it gets dark out” captured Philly?’s melody-making abilities, the new project “Love Renaissance 1437” finds the 18-year back on his knocking drums, a sound that he is known for, and more confident than ever. Take a listen below and share your thoughts.
