NBA YoungBoy has shared a concerning update about his health while also suggesting that his remarkably prolific music career could be approaching its final chapter. During a rare appearance on Funny Marco’s Open Thoughts, the 26-year-old Baton Rouge rapper revealed that a doctor discovered an issue involving the left side of his heart while he was touring.
YoungBoy explained that he learned the left side of his heart was swollen while he was on tour, but chose not to tell anyone and continued performing until every scheduled show was completed. According to Complex, the rapper said the issue has not completely disappeared and indicated that part of his heart remains enlarged. He did not disclose a specific diagnosis, possible cause or details about any treatment he may be receiving.
The revelation also provided context for YoungBoy’s changing relationship with music. He told Funny Marco that music is not his primary focus right now, a notable statement from an artist known for releasing projects at a pace few rappers of his generation have matched. When asked how many more albums he believes he has left in him, YoungBoy answered simply: “One or two.”

His plans for touring appear even more limited. YoungBoy said he expects to hit the road only one more time in his life before stepping away from touring altogether. The comments mark a significant shift for a rapper who has already built one of modern hip-hop’s largest catalogs, including nine studio albums, dozens of mixtapes and four projects that have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
YoungBoy has remained active throughout 2026 despite those changing priorities. He released Slime Cry in January, which reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200, before following with the ML2 compilation in June. His continued output makes the possibility of retirement particularly striking, considering how closely constant releases have been tied to his identity throughout his career.
For now, NBA YoungBoy has not formally announced his retirement from music, and his comments leave room for at least one or two more full-length projects before that decision becomes final. Still, the combination of his health concerns, reduced interest in recording and plans for only one additional tour suggests that YoungBoy is beginning to think seriously about life beyond the relentless schedule that has defined much of his rise.
