On Saturday, a snippet of Lil Wayne rapping over the ‘Old Town Road’ instrumental surfaced online which legitimized the rumor that the rapper is featured on a remix to the record-breaking song.
“She got that honky-tonk / I met her on Farmers Only,” he raps in the brief clip. “I’m a Young Money cowboy / Sitting on my high horse.”
It’s unclear if and when the remix will be released in full. Wayne, who is currently on tour with blink-182, has been teasing his long-awaited Funeral album.
Meanwhile, “Old Town Road” is on its way to making Billboard Hot 100 history. It is the third song to spend 15 weeks or more at No. 1 on the Hot 100, and is just one week away from tying the 16-week record held by Mariah Carey’s “One Sweet Day” and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito.”
