Lil Wayne finally released Tha Carter V in September 2018 after a string of delays and legal issues, but the album went through several iterations while the New Orleans rapper was wrapped up in label drama with Birdman and Cash Money. Today, a purported original version of the project surfaced online.
The 20-track leak includes unreleased collaborations like “Just Chill” with Justin Bieber and “Mute” featuring Big Sean. Other songs include “Scottie Pippen,” “Life of Mr. Carter,” and “Form Good.”
All of the aforementioned tracks appeared on a rumored early Tha Carter V tracklist. Some were even previewed by pharmaceutical company CEO Martin Shkreli after he claimed to have purchased the then-unreleased album.
Also included are early versions of songs which landed on the final release, including extended versions of “Open Safe,” “Famous,” and “Mona Lisa” featuring Kendrick Lamar.
