Lil Baby and Sam Smith Announced as SNL Musical Guests

The first Saturday Night Live episodes of 2023 have been announced after the holiday break: On January 21, Aubrey Plaza will host, while Sam Smith will act as musical guest. The following Saturday (January 28), rapper Lil Baby will take the stage during an episode helmed by Michael B. Jordan.

The January 21 episode will mark Smith’s third time as musical guest; they also appeared on the show in 2014 and 2017. Smith is readying their next full-length, Gloria, which arrives January 27.

In 2019, DJ Khaled brought Lil Baby out onto the Saturday Night Live stage along with Lil Wayne, SZA, Meek Mill, and others for a tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle. Lil Baby’s upcoming slot on SNL, however, will mark his debut as musical guest on the show. The rapper released his most recent LP, It’s Only Me, last fall.
