Former NFL offensive lineman and Super Bowl champion Jordan Devey has died by suicide at the age of 38. Devey died on July 21, according to reports, leaving behind his wife, Linsey, and their four children. News of his death has brought an outpouring of condolences from former teammates, football supporters and members of the communities he served.
Linsey honored her husband in an emotional Instagram post shared shortly before what would have marked their 15th wedding anniversary. Reflecting on the memories, struggles and triumphs they experienced together, she described Devey as the family’s hero and wrote, “You were our hero and our hearts ache in your absence.”
Devey began his professional career as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013 after playing college football at Snow College and Memphis. He later joined the New England Patriots and appeared in six regular-season games during the team’s Super Bowl XLIX-winning 2014 season, earning a championship ring when the Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks.

The offensive guard continued his career with the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills. He appeared in 44 NFL games, including 21 starts, before his playing career came to an end. Following his time in the league, Devey remained connected to football by coaching young athletes and was named offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Eagle High School in Idaho.
A fundraiser has been established to support Linsey and the couple’s four children as they cope with the emotional and financial impact of the loss. The campaign remembers Devey as a devoted husband, loving father, mentor and community member who spent countless hours coaching children, supporting athletes and serving through his church. Jordan Devey’s life will be remembered not only through his Super Bowl championship, but also through the family, players and communities he influenced away from the field.
