Jared Leto Reportedly Tried to Prevent Production of 'Joker'

Jared Leto was so furious at the new Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix after his own performance in the role that he tried to get the film canned, according to reports.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Leto was unhappy when Warner Bros. greenlit Todd Phillips’ take on the Batman villain because the studio reportedly promised him he could continue his take on the character, which he debuted in Suicide Squad.

THR’s insiders claim that after the film’s 2016 release, Warner Bros. led Leto to believe that he would get his own standalone Joker movie. The studio then turned around and hired Phillips to direct his own version, which as we all know, went on to star Joaquin Phoenix.

Additionally, Leto also took his complaints to his agents at CAA and his music manager, Irving Azoff, looking to push Warner Bros. to scrap production on Joker. It is unclear, but Leto possibly may have parted ways with CAA and Azoff this Summer after they could not get the project scrapped.
